→ Richard Walker 

Director of Track Engineering

  • After over 20 years as a track engineer, Richard has developed extensive expertise across all aspects of rail civil engineering, including track inspections, maintenance, and renewals. Prior to establishing Alma Rail, he held senior roles managing and directing track projects within several major organisations, including Network Rail and Jarvis Rail, where he was responsible for the successful delivery of complex rail infrastructure works.

    Since founding Alma Rail, Richard has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and operational success, overseeing project delivery and managing 17 routine inspection and maintenance contracts. His leadership and deep technical knowledge have been central to building the business’s reputation for reliability, quality, and excellence in safety-critical rail engineering services.

→ Shane Greenfield

Operations Director

  • Having spent over 20 years in project management roles, Shane brings extensive experience in leading and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects across a range of sectors. Prior to joining Alma Rail in 2011, he gained broad expertise in the successful delivery of railway, civil engineering, and building contracts for public sector organisations, developing a strong track record in managing large-scale infrastructure works.

    Since joining Alma Rail, Shane has played a key leadership role within the business, overseeing project delivery and ensuring the consistent achievement of performance standards. His responsibilities include KPI monitoring, health and safety oversight, rail industry audits, and the wider operational management of the business, all of which have contributed to maintaining high levels of compliance, efficiency, and service quality.

The management team is supported day-to-day by a highly skilled group of supervisors and senior contractors, who bring extensive hands-on experience in project delivery, testing and commissioning, and maintenance activities.

This combined leadership structure enables the business to maintain consistently high standards of safety, compliance, and quality while effectively delivering a wide range of rail engineering services to its clients.
